Hey there! I’m Devon, a Nurse Psychotherapist that takes a compassion-focused, person-centered approach to therapy. My clients would tell you that our sessions will be non-judgemental, supportive, and encouraging of self-kindness and authenticity with a sprinkle of humour.

With 18+ years of experience in queer and trans health, gender-affirming care, inclusive sex therapy, and elder care most often dealing with dementia and palliative care. I challenge stigmas and oppressive narratives that compromise mental health and damage self-concepts and recognition of intrinsic value and worth. In recent years, my focus has been primarily on sex therapy and somatic approaches. My background in intersectional feminism and integrative theory reinforces my belief in the importance of community and social connections in healthcare.

I have a wide range of expertise when it comes to therapy, including couples’ counselling, elder care (with a focus on behavioural dementias and palliative mental health), gender identity, sexuality, neurodivergence, queer and trans health. My experience in sex therapy and sex education, also branches into BDSM, kink, ENM, and various dynamics of polyamory.

In my sessions with couples and relationships, we focus on communication tools, relationship repair and conflict resolution, improving emotional intimacy, strengthening trust, and emotional regulation. Remember, when you see a therapist, the relationship as a unit is the “client”! I don’t take sides and there’s no winner between partners; the focus is on mutual understanding and growth.

I’m a proud member of organizations like the Canadian Professional Association for Transgender Health (CPATH), RNAO, and the CNO. I’m extremely passionate about collaborating with local agencies and healthcare providers to advance knowledge on gender-affirming care. I’m grateful to live and work on the Indigenous land of the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, Attiwonderonk, and Mississauga lands.

When I’m not working, I’m either with my dog Charlie on a walk, on my bike, or getting creative with painting, playing guitar, and working on my epic Spotify playlists. I spent some years living on an island out west, exploring self-sufficiency with permaculture principles, gardening, and oddly enough, learning how to barber because no one knew how to cut anything other than bowl cut.

Looking ahead, my goals for the years ahead revolve around self-care and physical well-being, especially after a recent spinal injury. I aspire to regain my active lifestyle and return to playing sports, but with much less rough contact.

To sum things up, I’m passionate about inclusivity and holistic care. My journey and expertise reflect my commitment to creating safe spaces and advocating for marginalized communities, to make a positive impact on healthcare and society at large.

Enough about me, send me a message to set up a free consultation, and let’s see if we’re a good match!

Hi! I’m Luke

Over the course of our lives, it is not uncommon to experience feelings of being lost or stuck. These feelings, when left unchecked, can result in negative thoughts, behaviors, or fears, that act as barriers and keep us from living the life we desire.

Attending therapy can provide you with a safe, neutral, and non-judgemental space with access to the tools to help you address a variety of issues that affect your quality of life. As an RN, Psychotherapist I want to help you succeed, clarify your values, and see where change is waiting for you.

I will work with you to navigate these challenges, offer personalized reflection and goal setting, to begin healing towards a brighter future. I believe we all have the internal resources to restore within ourselves a sense of resilience and inner strength. I recognize that there are a variety of methods to manage and treat mental health and as such I bring a flexible approach to my care and the modalities I employ.

Together, we will work on:

  • Recognizing your strengths, needs, and challenges.
  • Creating room for growth and identifying your goals.
  • Developing tangible skills to build towards your success.
  • Discussing your experiences, maintaining your strengths, and continuing towards growth and well-being.

Through a client centered approach, and by encouraging the formation of a deeper relationship with self, we can work together to facilitate any number of positive changes in your life.

My areas of interest include:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Stress Management
  • Substance Use
  • Major life changes, transition, and loss.
  • Self-esteem and self-compassion
  • Relationship Difficulties
  • ADHD
